Scruton Station Heritage Education Programme

Now newly in post, Virginia Arrowsmith writes in:

“I’ve had a fascinating first month in post as the new Heritage Education Officer and received a very warm welcome from those of you I’ve met so far. Over the coming months, I’ll be pulling together what we know about the station and the railway locally from archives and oral histories, so if any of you have family stories or memories of the station particularly from the early-mid twentieth century, I’d be delighted to hear from you. Equally, if you’d like to help with recording some of these oral histories, you’d be very welcome to join the group of volunteers who’ll be doing this – we’re planning to start recording over the winter. I’m also keen to see any old photographs of Scruton and local families that we could use to recreate period characters and scenes for school groups and visitors next summer. If you’re able to help with any of these elements of the project, do get in touch! My email address is: vparrowsmith@aol.com”
