Railway Project Funding

The village has received a formal commitment of £75,000 from the Railway Heritage Trust to rebuild and refurbish our station buildings, subject to various conditions, not least getting matching funding for the project costs.
Activities are underway to approach other historical and buildings preservation award granting bodies for additional funding, plus counting a considerable amount of volunteer support from Scruton railway volunteers and various other branches of the Wensleydale Railway Association.

Because the building has been exposed to several winters, there is now some urgency about getting it made safe and usable. We hope to be able to create a rentable unit for a workshop, office or accommodation, that will provide revenue for future upkeep.

A condition survey and proposals for future use are available from Janet Crampton if anyone would like to see them.
