The Christmas hype has started. I doubt many people look to the weeks before Christmas with the word ‘quiet’ in mind.

November is a month of remembering, from All Saints to All Souls, to Armistice Day and then, ‘Remember remember the 5th of November’, fireworks and bonfires.  

The summer months are nearly upon us. Much of our time is pressured – the sands of time run through our hands far too quickly for us to grasp.

It has been a tough winter and the continuing sadness of a world in turmoil seems to follow us; but in Easter, Christ’s resurrection conquers the darkness so that we can live in hope and love.

One of the joys of living in beautiful North Yorkshire is watching the changing seasons. I love hares and have seen a number recently.

I reckon many of us were hoping that the latest roadmap issued by the Government would provide a light at the end of what has been a very long tunnel.

The Church continues to be alive and active, but our buildings must close for public worship.

Wishing you all love and peace for 2021. A New Year dawns, with new challenges, but may it be a positive and joyful one.

I love Autumn: the colours and smells, yet it seems such a short season in comparison to the winter it leads into.
