Scruton Fest was a roaring success last weekend, thanks to the Fest Crew (SPFA) and everyone who supported and participated in the event in any way.
Villagers enjoyed picnics in brilliant sunshine while Scruton Jazz Band made its debut performance. The traditional elements (Raffle, Tombola, Plants and Cake stalls) together made over £2,800! (plus matched funding of £1,000 from Barclays for the raffle). The organisers said, “Stall holders and catering vendors all reported good sales, and we have received many generous donations. The bar was popular, selling over 700 pints of beer and countless other drinks.”. The new features of live music (Roundel) and Karaoke DJ (Andy Wilson) were enjoyed by revellers who danced the night away under a beautiful mackerel sky.
The final total of fundraising should be available for next month’s Scruton News and a provisional date for next year’s Fest is Saturday 29 June 2024.
